Church & Tented Walled Garden Wedding · St Andrews, Scotland

St Andrews is home to some of Scotland’s most romantic wedding settings — from historic churches and grand coastal hotels to hidden walled gardens tucked quietly into the surrounding countryside. For couples seeking a celebration that feels both elegant and deeply personal, these secluded spaces offer a wonderful sense of atmosphere and privacy.
Few settings feel as romantic as a walled garden wedding during the soft Scottish summer months.
Lavinia and David travelled from London to celebrate their wedding in the historic town of St Andrews, surrounded by friends and family who had gathered from across the world. It was here, as university students, that the two first met — making the setting deeply meaningful for their celebration.
Lavinia grew up in the countryside just outside St Andrews and chose to prepare for the day in her parents’ home, where her handmade gown hung in her childhood bedroom as the quiet excitement of the morning unfolded throughout the house.
Their ceremony took place at St Andrews Episcopal Church in the heart of the historic town. Afterwards, guests travelled to nearby Strathtyrum Walled Garden for a champagne reception with Loch Fyne oysters beneath the summer marquee. Floral designer Mood Flowers, filled the church and garden setting with soft foliage and delicate pastel blooms — perfectly in keeping with the season.
Like many couples, Lavinia and David were initially a little shy about being photographed. But after a relaxed pre-wedding session in Lavinia’s parents’ garden a few weeks earlier, they arrived on the wedding day completely at ease — joyful, relaxed and wonderfully present with each other.
It was a truly special day and a privilege to document it all for them.
Here’s how it all came together:

For couples planning a wedding in St Andrews — whether in one of the town’s historic churches or within its beautiful private gardens — it remains one of Scotland’s most romantic places to celebrate.
