It was a crisp spring day when I was invited in to Rosebery House. The sun danced in and out of wispy clouds, creating the most beautiful light throughout the rooms and spaces of the 18th-century Georgian mansion and family home—a light that would fill any wedding photographer in Scotland with joy.
Since the days of The 5th Earl of Rosebery, Prime Minister Archibald Primrose, Rosebery House has been a Primrose family holiday home and a much-loved haven for socialising, something that is evident in the calm, warm atmosphere of the house. Even when empty, it has a feeling of character and charm that emanate from the very fabric of its walls. A welcoming home in which, for generations, friends and family have gathered to enjoy good food, company and the surrounding countryside—an ideal setting for those seeking a home-from-home exclusive use wedding venue near Edinburgh, Scotland.
A wedding venue in Scotland with a timeless, Nancy Meyers film feel.
Rosebery House has the undeniable charm and inviting warmth of a favourite Nancy Meyers film. With its beautiful, welcoming interiors and light and airy orangery (complete with an ivory, cast-iron wood-burning fireplace, exquisite lamps, hand-painted wallpaper, and inviting furnishings), the house looks out over private, peaceful, manicured gardens filled with ancient trees and beautiful shrubbery and its own private Chapel. It’s the perfect space for a wedding reminiscent of the much-loved Meyers classic, ‘Father of the Bride’ (1990). A wedding designed with a Nancy Meyers aesthetic at Rosebery House would not only be fitting, elegant and intimate but imbued with the same effortless, romantic charm as the films themselves.
Undone authenticity and heart.
Elegant without the slightest hint of being impersonal, Rosebery House perfectly captures the essence of a quintessential romantic, intimate wedding day. Imagine lamplit tables adorned with beautiful floral and fauna arrangements, the sounds of fine dining, and heartfelt toasts being made—this exclusive use wedding venue in Edinburgh is the perfect setting for a wedding designed around undone authenticity and heart.
Weddings tend to take on the feel of the couple at the heart of them. Whatever their character and relationship is becomes the foundation for the celebrations themselves. Rosebery House, one of the finest Scotland wedding venues, offers a space perfect for this, a setting in which to create the perfect home-from-home wedding.
Rosebery House wedding accommodation.
Not only is the house itself— with its 8 luxurious bedrooms (offering accommodation for up to 16 overnight guests and the capacity to host up to 100 wedding guests), modern yet timeless decor, oil stove kitchen, and various spaces to relax— a place of warmth and wonder, but the estate and gardens also provide outdoor spaces for dining and celebrating. Just meters from the house, in its gardens, is a private chapel where ceremonies can be held, making Rosebery House a wedding venue with a chapel that provides both charm and convenience.
For those planning a Rosebery House wedding, photography opportunities are endless. From the expansive lawns, manicured gardens, and central courtyard to the very edges of the walled and gated estate, this Scotland wedding venue offers the best of Scottish charm, architecture, and hospitality.
As an Edinburgh wedding photographer for more than 14 years, I can think of only a select few wedding venues in Scotland that match Rosebery House when it comes to breathtaking settings for photography.
The exclusive use and proximity to Edinburgh’s iconic settings make Rosebery House the perfect place to host guests.
